Building a quantum economy

Good morning, we would like to share a World Economic Forum report titled ‘State of Quantum Computing: Building a Quantum Economy’. This report by the WEF Global Future Council on Quantum Computing aims to provide a clear, concise, and neutral assessment of the current state of the quantum computing industry.

The report provides an accessible baseline of information to support informed opinions and fact-based decision making in the context of the current state of the emerging quantum industry, the technology, its applications, and key components of a quantum ecosystem.

The report avoids downplaying the hype and potential impact of quantum computing, providing insights into the following:

• The current level of funding, industry growth, and national interest in quantum technology
• The potential of quantum computing, particularly, what can it do now and what will it be able to do
• Whether quantum ecosystems have all the necessary enablers to support innovation

Despite uncertainty over when quantum computers will be ready at scale, quantum security risks and business opportunities continue to receive a lot of attention.
